The secretary of the Gunnedah Homes for the Aged Crown Reserves board, Owen Hasler, has asked Gunnedah residents to consider nominating for a new board which will operate from 16 January, 2027.
“The Yallambee Units and Hostel have proven to be very popular, affordable accommodation for Gunnedah residents for over 60 years and it is essential that we have an enthusiastic board which is focused on continuing the operation of this very important facility in Gunnedah,” Mr Hasler said.
“Board members are volunteers who are prepared to give of their time in order to attend meetings and oversight the operation of Yallambee.
“It would be good to see people with business and financial management skills apply but the most important thing that people can bring to the role is by making sensible decisions and assisting the
Gunnedah community in maintaining this great housing asset for future residents.”
Mr Hasler said the advertised closing date for applications is 1 November, but that locals had been reliably informed by Crown Lands staff that late applications will be accepted up until 8 November.
“The present board members believe that the board should consist of at least six members, preferably up to eight. We have only four at the moment- so we hope that the appropriate community minded individuals who are interested in assisting the continued operation of Yallambee, will put their names forward by applying for membership via portal.crownland.nsw.nsw.gov.au,” Mr Hasler said.
“We look forward to seeing a good mix of people with a variety of skills stepping forward to continue the important role of providing affordable accommodation options for Gunnedah.”
