This year marks a significant milestone for the Winanga-Li Aboriginal Child and Family Centre – a decade of dedicated service and growth. To celebrate this remarkable journey, we’re thrilled to invite everyone to our Family Fun Day at McAndrew Park on Saturday, November 25.
Engaging activities await – from children’s games and crafts to the excitement of miniature golf and jumping castles. And for the adventurous at heart, join the ‘Nerf’ gun battle or get creative with face painting.
We’re excited to feature the band Castlereagh Connection, a group of talented young indigenous artists from Coonamble, bringing their vibrant energy and fresh sounds.
Joining them is the legendary Roger Knox, the ‘Koori King of Country’ ‘Black Elvis’. With a career adorned with accolades such as the NAIDOC Artist of The Year (1993), an induction into the Country Music Hands of Fame (2004), and the Jimmy Little Award for Lifetime Achievement (2006), his performance is sure to captivate and entertain audiences of all ages.
A variety of delicious food and drinks will be available, including a unique chance to sample bush tucker. This is a perfect opportunity to taste the flavours that are a vital part of Indigenous Australian culture.
Wayne Griffiths, the CEO of Winanga-Li, emphasises that this event is for everyone. It’s not just a celebration of Winanga-Li’s achievements but a heartfelt thank you to the community and businesses that have supported the centre’s growth. From humble beginnings in 2013 with a small team, Winanga-Li has flourished, now boasting a diverse staff of 65, including linguists, facilitators, and educators. So, mark your calendars for November 25. Bring your family and friends to McAndrew Park for a day of fun, music, and community spirit. Let us celebrate the journey of Winanga-Li and look forward to many more years of making a difference together.
