Swimming Gunnedah achieved some impressive personal best (PB) times and collected medals of every colour, as a squad of 11 competed at the Macquarie Shores Open Short Course Meet in Toronto last weekend.

Riley Thompson led the senior ranks with five PBs, while Cameron Sills and Nathan Reeves put up some strong competition in the 11 years boys division.

Cameron had seven podium finishes after collecting gold in the 50m breaststroke and 100m butterfly, and silver in the 50m freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and 100m breaststroke. He also won bronze in the 400m freestyle where he took a massive 23 seconds off his previous best to finish in 5:07.68 seconds.

Nathan posted five best times and brought home gold in the 100m freestyle with an almost six-second improvement, and he also achieved silver in the 100m backstroke.

Tayla Thompson, 12, took home silver in the 100m backstroke and butterfly as well as bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Macey Dalessandro, 11, snatched bronze in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle, while also shaving 16 seconds off her previous best in the 200m breaststroke. Her sister Darci, 9, beat her 50m freestyle time while youngest sibling Jess, 7, broke her own club record in the 50m butterfly (1:03.66) to win bronze in a time of 59.96, a silver in the 50m backstroke and another bronze in the 50m freestyle.

Shaun Reeves, 9, posted five PBs from five races and slashed a huge 20 seconds off his 50m breaststroke time and seven seconds off his 50m backstroke time.

Aiden Sills, 8, bagged a club record in the 100m breaststroke (2:00.95) previously held by Myles Young (2:05.74).

Aiden also won silver in the 50m breaststroke, and bronze in the 50m and 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle. He also dropped 13 seconds from his best 100m backstroke time.

Nayte Thompson, 10, put in a strong effort while brother Ayden, 9, made big gains in his 50m butterfly and 100m breaststroke with seven- and eight-second PBs respectively.
