Gunnedah-based rugby league sisters Nautica and Zoe Eather were part of a title-winning Group 4 women’s representative team for the second year running, as Group 4 secured this year’s Northern Region tri-series competition.

The Eather sisters teamed up with numerous opponents from the Group 4 Mid Season Women’s Tackle competition for last Saturday’s contests with Group 19 and Group 21 at the Tamworth-based Scully Park.

After Group 19 and Group 21 squared off in the first fixture, Group 4 defeated Group 19 with a 26-0 scoreline before Group 4 had a 28-4 victory against Group 21.

Zoe scored a try against Group 19 before Nautica scored against Group 21.

Nautica played in the centres while Zoe played in the second-row, as the sisters were on the same side of the field.

Zoe said she and Nautica played well together as they understood each other’s game, even if they tended to argue a bit at times when on the field.

The Group 4 teams involving the Eather sisters didn’t concede a point in last year’s tri-series, before conceding one try this year.

Zoe said there were many changes to the team from last year to this year, although this year’s outfit was still “a strong defensive side” which had had four training sessions in the lead-up to last Saturday.
