Liverpool Plains Shire Council is encouraging local businesses, community groups, residents and visitors to help renew the strategies paving the way for future growth, investment and visitation to the Liverpool Plains Shire.

Mayor Ken Cudmore said community, business and industry input will be critical to the development of the shire’s new Destination Management Plan and Economic Development Strategy.

“It’s vital that Liverpool Plains Shire Council knows and understands our community’s views on the road ahead for growing our economy, developing our workforce, attracting investment and promoting our region, and there will be several opportunities to provide input and feedback,” Cr Cudmore said.

“Our Economic Development Strategy will be based on detailed economic research and analysis, as well as engagement with businesses, government agencies and the community, and provide a framework for us to work together to grow a strong and sustainable local economy,” he said.

“We’ll also be looking at how we can boost our visitor economy through developing a standalone Destination Management Plan, which outline how we will better position and promote the Liverpool Plains Shire as an attractive destination to visitors far and wide.”

Mayor Cudmore encouraged all members of the Liverpool Plains Shire community to participate in the strategies’ development and complete an online survey, which would help identify local aspirations and priorities across economic growth and destination development.

“We want to hear from all corners of our community, locals and visitors alike, so whether you’re a business operator or involved in a community organisation, sporting group or service club, jump online and provide your input,” he said.

“Community involvement in the preparation of the strategies will ensure our consultants are well-informed to deliver a Destination Management Plan and Economic Development with vision and practical action plans.”

Accredited economist Sasha Lennon of consultancy firm SC Lennon & Associates has been engaged by Council to prepare the Destination Management Plan and Economic Development Strategy and will be facilitating targeted stakeholder consultation in August. Further information on the strategies’ development is available via council’s website.
