The Gunnedah Bulldogs and Poochettes are refreshed in time for this Saturday’s AFL North West NSW matches at the Armidale-based Bellevue Oval, after having the bye last weekend.
With just two rounds remaining before the finals, this Saturday’s men’s fixture will effectively be a do-or-die situation for both teams.
The winning team will likely make the top-four and qualify for the finals, while the losing team finishes fifth and last while missing the finals.
Gunnedah and New England have won only once each so far this year, with the Nomads beating the Bulldogs 11.15.81 to 7.9.51 on May 17 before the Bulldogs trounced the Nomads 18.19.127 to 5.12.42 on July 19.
Both fixtures were on Gunnedah soil, with the visiting team notably depleted on the latter occasion.
At home last Saturday, the Nomads lost the men’s fixture 25.22.172 to 0.2.2 against the equal-first Tamworth Swans.
Meanwhile it remains to be seen if the Poochettes have a game, with the Nomads having forfeited five times this season including twice against Gunnedah in addition to their two most recent fixtures.
