This is my final edition as sports journalist of the Gunnedah Times, following a little over 18 months in the role.
I’ve accepted a position in my home state of Queensland, and I’m heading that way on the weekend before starting my new role next week.
It really has been a pleasure to serve the Gunnedah community, while focusing on the sports scene.
There have been many memorable times for me in Gunnedah, and I’m very grateful for the input, support, kind words and encouragement from so many people.
There certainly has been plenty of variety, meaning no two days have ever been the same while I’ve been amazed at the skills, achievements and accomplishments of so many sports people across a range of ages.
As a sports author who has had some cricket and rugby league books released, I’ve also had the privilege of giving talks at Next Edition Café & Book Store and Curlewis Public School.
It was a huge buzz to receive such lovely feedback from so many of the children at Curlewis Public School, in particular.
I sincerely hope to visit this region again some time down the track, and hopefully I’ll come across some familiar faces when the time comes.
Cheers for now, and thanks for the memories.
