Fifty Breeza men enlisted for service in Great War

Citizens of Breeza erected a memorial to those who died and those who served in the Great War. The large stone memorial, surmounted by a machine gun, was erected in 1924 and unveiled and dedicated by Canon May, of Gunnedah, after it had been built by contractor M. Hardy, of Narrabri, and transported to the site by rail. The memorial remained on the site for almost 90 years before it was relocated to higher ground on the southern side of the Kamilaroi Highway through the village. Spring school holiday fun withshire library

Gunnedah Shire Library has marked the spring school holidays with an array of fun activities. The library’s usual Singalong & Storytime/Book Buddies returned as part of the offering, as did Crafty Creations. Children enjoyed making paper squishies, spring dioaramas, yarn animals, cardboard catepillars, busy bees and woolly sheep. The program also included a visit to Curlewis Hall for a kaleidoscope of stories, rhymes and craft for children. Birthing services remain outof action at Gunnedah Hospital

Birthing services continue to be unavailable at Gunnedah Hospital, with health officials citing recruitment difficulties as the primary cause. The issue has again resurfaced with Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson and Gunnedah-based Member of the Legislative Council Sarah Mitchell voicing their concern that fully-staffed maternity facilities are inaccessible at the recently upgraded hospital. Gunnedah Hospital received a $53m redevelopment which included new birthing facilities.
