Police issue multiple charges in Gunnedah after separate, serious offences

Gunnedah police responded to a range of incidents last weekend – from house fires to stolen vehicles, property theft, alleged drink drivers, domestic violence offences, police pursuits and even the ramming of a police vehicle. About 2.20am on July 5, police received information that a vehicle that had earlier been stolen from Tamworth, was seen at the Gunnedah McDonalds. Police attended and located the vehicle and three occupants. It was alleged the stolen vehicle was driven into the police vehicle several times in an effort to escape. New funding proposal for new Gunnedah golf tournament

A new junior golf tournament has received in-principle funding support from Gunnedah Shire Council. The new proposal would also come at a significantly reduced cost to ratepayers compared to the previous arrangement. Council recently agreed to support the Gunnedah Golf Club’s Junior Golf Open, scheduled for August, with a contribution of $1000 plus GST. The proposal is currently on public exhibition and if endorsed, funds would be drawn from the 2025/26 Tourism Community Programs and Events budget. Keepit pipeline proposal a ‘regional emergency in the making’

A Gunnedah-based regional advocacy group is this week hosting a “water security round table” in what is describes as a firm, coordinated stand for the protection of the Namoi Catchment. Strategic Futures Inc – which aims to support investment in food, fibre, and water – will today host a Gunnedah meeting in response to the NSW Government consultation about building a pipeline from Lake Keepit to Tamworth. “This is a regional emergency in the making,” Strategic Futures chair CJ Baldry Adams said. New causeways for Kamilaroi, Trinkey Forest roads to reduce delays says council

An unsealed gravel causeway on Kamilaroi Road will be upgraded to a concrete causeway over the next two months. Gunnedah Shire Council director infrastructure services Jeremy Bartlett said the upgrade would help to solve the ongoing issue of delays for road users during weather events. “The new concrete causeway will be more resistant to wash-out and reduce the need for repeated reconstruction following extreme weather,” he said. “This will mean road users can access the road more quickly when water has reduced to a safe level, instead of needing to wait until the causeway can be restored.” Weather-permitting, work on […]
