Parking space sufficient, new grants opportunities

No further action will be taken regarding car parking on Little Conadilly Street in Gunnedah. It follows a report to Gunnedah Shire Council’s Local Traffic Committee which assessed vehicles have as having adequate movement in the area. The assessment comes after council carried out signage and line marking improvements adjacent the hardware store on Marquis Street. These improvements included reinforced the parking signage by marking out the parking bays and centre line of the road. Disaster preparedness project to ‘Equip’ Gunnedah community

Gunnedah has been selected as one of just three NSW locations to take part in a long-term, national research program to help communities prepare for future natural disasters. The five-year program called Equip will utilise a unique model to help people prepare for flood, fire, and drought by strengthening mental and emotional readiness. Rather than focusing on disaster recovery or physical preparedness, Equip will build psychological preparedness before events occur. Gunnedah house destroyed by fire

A home has been destroyed by fire in Gunnedah overnight. The fire occurred about 1am on Thursday at the corner of High Street and Wandobah Road. Fire and Rescue NSW units from Gunnedah and Boggabri arrived on scene to find the brick home well alight. Fire crews utilised breathing apparatus while extinguishing the fire. The structure also suffered a partial roof collapse. It took firefighters about one hour to bring the fire under control. Police issue multiple charges in Gunnedah after separate, serious offences

Gunnedah police responded to a range of incidents last weekend – from house fires to stolen vehicles, property theft, alleged drink drivers, domestic violence offences, police pursuits and even the ramming of a police vehicle. About 2.20am on July 5, police received information that a vehicle that had earlier been stolen from Tamworth, was seen at the Gunnedah McDonalds. Police attended and located the vehicle and three occupants. It was alleged the stolen vehicle was driven into the police vehicle several times in an effort to escape.
