Fun night of brain teasers for Evening VIEW

GUNNEDAH Evening VIEW Club members were challenged by trivia maestro Anne McMahon at a recent dinner meeting, when four teams of hopefuls lined up for a fun night of brain teasers. Subjects ranged from sweet and sour, to four seasons, home, flowers and time, with the cryptic movies puzzle really stirring the brain cells. The Ring-Ins top-scored on 92 but the Fab Four came from behind to snatch second place, while the tail-enders, The Young Ones, were rewarded with the traditional wooden spoons. Gunnedah Shire to conduct feral cat program trial

GUNNEDAH Shire Council will conduct a 12-month trial to address the increasing number of feral cats. The issue was brought to the council’s attention by Cr Ann Luke, who had previously sought information from staff about measures to respond to the issue. At last week’s council meeting, elected members agreed to engage in a program that would assist residents to remove feral cats from their properties. THE future of farming was in focus when the award-winning Eather family welcomed farmers, industry experts, regional stakeholders and agricultural professionals to their Tarriaro orchard, near Narrabri, for the J & T Hort Citrus Open Day. Security works required at new animal impound facility

GUNNEDAH Shire Council will use unspent funds from the animal impound facility upgrade project towards security upgrades and a portable surveillance camera trailer. The council agreed to allocate $300,000 towards an automated sliding security gate, additional security cameras and floodlights. A portable surveillance camera to combat illegal dumping would also be purchased with a provision of $130,000.
