The brick wall around the Marquis Street roundabout has once again been damaged and while this time it was a car there have been many occasions when a semi-trailer has taken out the decorative barrier. Thinking about it in a logical way, it seems to me that the offending semi-trailers had always been travelling from the west into the CBD and there is a fairly obvious reason why the drivers have been misdirected. Budget lacks substance for regional towns: MP

Member for Parkes Mark Coulton says this week’s federal budget has left regional areas like Gunnedah out in the cold ahead of a looming winter election. The federal election, which on Wednesday was expected to be called imminently, must be held on or before May 17. By Gunnedah Shire Council mayor Colleen Fuller Gunnedah Shire was the location for a wonderful event last week – the launch of three new 50c coins with designs based on the poetry of Dorothea Mackellar. The poet who is so famous for “My Country” spent a lot of time in Gunnedah where her family had two properties, and our beautiful landscapes inspired some of her work, including “Dawn” which is featured on one of the new coins.
