Sailing school benefits youngsters to the sport

Lake Keepit Sailing Club held a follow-up, three-day sailing school in the second week of the holidays.

The school was aimed at beginners and sailors who wished to have further coaching.  

Many of the youngsters who had attended the January sailing school doubled up to further hone their skills. 

It was a very productive three days with varying sailing conditions adding realism as “plain sailing” does not last long anywhere.

Club members who assisted during the sailing school and participating families were thanked for their efforts.

Organisers said the young sailors learnt very quickly and some will now benefit from sailing a race or two with seasoned crews on a variety of boats. Sailing days continue for all on Sundays with a race start at 1pm.
