Gunnedah youngster Hugo Holmes has added another impressive title to his name after winning the Australian Junior Track Title on the back of his Australian Junior Dirt Track Title at Brisbane in July.

Hugo competed in the Australian Junior Track Titles in Tamworth on August 20-21, in the 65cc 7-9 years and the 85cc Modified seven to 12 years classes.

In the 65cc class, the nine-year-old won every heat race and went into the final ranked number 1, leading the final from start to finish to claim the prestigious title. In the 85cc Modified class, Hugo won three of his heat races but unfortunately had a DNF on one of the heats and went into the final ranked seventh.

Hugo’s father Dale Holmes said the final was a great race, stacked with talent with Hugo finishing third behind Sam Drane and Hugh Hope-Hodgets, both Australian title holders.

“Hugo is only nine so he can still compete in this class over the next three years,” he said.

It has been a busy year for young Hugo with impressive results to date, including  Australian Long Track champion (65cc 7-u9),  third place Australian Long Track (#3 85cc Mod) (third),  Australian Dirt Track champion (65cc 7-u9), Australian Dirt Track #4 85cc Mod (4th), NSW Dirt Track champion (65cc), NSW Dirt Track champion (85cc Mod).  NSW Senior Dirt Track (65cc support class), NSW Senior Dirt Track (85cc Mod support class), Australian Senior Dirt Track (65cc support class), NSW Senior Long Track (85cc Mod support class).

Hugo also holds the Casey Stoner Cup (65cc 7-9 years) awarded at Kurri Kurri in February this year.
