ATHLETICS:
Gunnedah athlete Bella Sawyer has been presented with a donation from the John Longmuir Foundation (JLF) to assist with her representation at an upcoming national competition.
JLF committee member Patrick Paul is pictured presenting Bella with a cheque to support the cost of her trip to the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in Adelaide in December where she will represent St Mary’s College Gunnedah in the under 16 girls high jump. It follows her qualification at the NSW All Schools Championships held at Sydney Olympic Park.
The John Longmuir Foundation was established to assist talented sportspeople in the community with costs associated with representation. The foundation has funds that were bequeathed by John Longmuir for Gunnedah residents who are representing NSW or Australia.
A request must be sent from the organisation the individual is representing such as the school or sports club. Previous foundation recipients include Gunnedah athlete and former St Mary’s College student, Megan Isbester, as well as NSW rugby league junior, Luke Howes.
