The Rest of the World ran out convincing 8-3 winners over the Indigenous All Stars during last week’s Australia Day touch competition.

World captain and incoming Gunnedah Bulldogs under 18s coach, Matt Buck, said the six-a-side touch competition was played in challenging conditions as the mercury neared 40 degrees on Australia Day.

“The heat tested us,” he said.

Best on ground for his winning outfit was Hayden Baker who scored one try and had a hand in three assists.

“He was certainly moving … he was good,” Buck said.

In other happenings, Buck is also busily preparing Gunnedah’s reigning under 18 premiers for the 2023 competition with pre-season training already underway.

Buck takes over the reins from premiership-winning coach Paul Wicks who led the side to victory in last season’s Group 4 grand final.
