Curlewis dusted off its golf clubs last Saturday thanks to the Curlewis Sporting and Recreation Group which held a golf fundraiser day at the sporting grounds.
Most people that came to support the event were Curlewis locals with four teams joining from Gunnedah.
The day featured nine teams and 36 players.
The Raiders team consisting of Jamie Bush, Brett Green, Tyler Fleming and Kade Bush was best of the day.
Tyler Fleming also won the longest drive and the nearest-the-pin was Wayne Campbell.
The day was exciting for all ages, with a team from Gunnedah consisting of parents and children.
The fundraiser brought in just under $2500 for the group that only formed last November.
Curlewis Sporting and Recreation Group had managed without funding and any costs were covered by what had been raised or out of the pockets of its members.
The group has worked hard since its inception to create an environment where locals can play social sports and last Saturday marked the opening day.
There was more than just golf with a stall, food and raffles also available for the community to partake in.
The presentation did not mark the end of the day and instead continued with entertainment that kept the crowd going until 10pm. Dean Whitton provided music who inevitably enticed participants to join him on stage.
About 80 people in total stopped by to show their support during the day.
