Gunnedah residents are encouraged to keep a look out for Peter Rabbit during the month of March as he pops up in local participating businesses within Gunnedah.

The Peter Rabbit toy was won by Kurtis Doyle, from Bubbles and Bone, at the charity auction ‘Doin it For Rural Aussie kids’.

The oversized toy rabbit was then donated to Gunnedah Family Support as Kurtis wished for the item to be donated to a community cause.

This led to an idea being born.

Peter Rabbit is being placed in different spots around Gunnedah for children to find him.

A Facebook group ‘Have you seen Peter Rabbit Gunnedah’ features pictures of people searching for him and clues with where to find him next.

Locals are encouraged to upload a picture to the group when he is found.

So far, he has been on many adventures around town.

Photos uploaded to Facebook have shown him working hard at Alkira, the Discount Drug store and many other local businesses.

He made an appearance at 4 Eva Keepsakes last Wednesday to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Peter Rabbit will also appear at childcare centres, playgroups and community gatherings.

He will be attending as guest of honour at the Harmony Day markets later this month.

The event will feature a free Easter egg hunt for children thanks to Gunnedah Family Support.
