Gunnedah Bulldogs snared a maiden Wests Entertainment Group Tooheys Ladies League Tag win at Dungowan Recreation Reserve on Saturday with their 12-10 success against the Cowgirls.
“It was our first win at Dungowan,” a glowing captain-coach Jacqui Jones said.
“We had never beaten them on their home ground. It was a great win, two from two now.”
The win sits the Bulldogs in second spot on the LLT ladder, equal with leaders Kootingal but second on points for and against.
Jacqui Jones said the defensive effort from her side was outstanding.
“It was a team effort in defence. We did drop a bit of ball though,” she said.
She will be working on the attacking side of things at training in an effort to make the combinations more fluid.
For Gunnedah, Tarryn Heinrich was outstanding, scoring two tries and winning the side’s players player award.
Lowanna Davidson was also impressive at lock for the Bulldogs.
“She made multiple try-saving tags,” Jones added.
Gunnedah has a home game against Moree this Sunday after the Boars beat Narrabri Bluebirds 14-6 at Collins Park, Narrabri on Sunday.
Kootingal also had a big “rubber duckie” day, knocking over North Tamworth 10-4 at Kootingal Oval and Werris Creek claimed their first win of the season with a 32-4 victory over Boggabri at Werris Creek.
