Gunnedah Women’s Golf Club’s annual open day on Sunday attracted 50 players from across the north
west.
A fourball stableford was played and included other events to challenge players. Two golfers from Werris Creek won the 18-hole stableford on a countback – Jenny Fisher and Jann Moore with a 46. Runners-up were Sandra Haley and Ann Burgess.
The fourball scratch winners were Michelle Johnston and Jane McWhirter with a score of 24. Runners-up were Ros McDonald and Anne Finnigan on 20.
Two rounds of the Women’s Foursomes Championships were also played last week at Gunnedah Golf Club.
There were winners for each day’s play with the champions decided on the second day. Nancye Farquhar and Jenny Hughes were winners on Tuesday with a score of 70.5. Runners-up were Helen Baker and Sally Toppin with 74 and Ros McDonald and Anne Finnigan in third with 76.5.
Cecily Jaeger was nearest-the-pin on 2nd and Nancye Farquhar on 7th.
Balls went to sixth-placed Marge Clift and Chrissy Waghorn.
Ros McDonald and Anne Finnigan were Thursday’s winners with a score of 71.5 from Jacinta Stanley and Alison Dawson-Bee with 74.5.
Kay Clarke and Lizzie Jones finished third with 76.5.
Val Billsborough was nearest the pin on the 2nd hole and Kay Clarke on the 7th.
Balls went to the six placegetters plus Sally Toppin and Helen
Baker.
The club’s foursomes champions for 2023 were Ros McDonald and Anne Finnigan with a great gross score of 179 for the two days.
