Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from next week on the Oxley Highway (Abbott Street) at Gunnedah to carry out essential maintenance on the road over rail bridge.

Transport for NSW will be carrying out the maintenance, which includes upgrading the guardrail on the approaches to the bridge.

Work starting on Monday 17 July will be carried out from 6am to 6pm on weekdays and is expected to be completed by 6pm on Friday 4 August, weather permitting.

Traffic control and single lane closures with alternating traffic flows will be in place during work hours, which may affect travel times.

The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 40km/h for the duration of the project.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
