Gunnedah Rugby Club’s second grade season has drawn to a close after holding back a visiting Narrabri side from victory.
The Red Devils enjoyed a red-hot start, restricting the visiting Blue Boars from hitting the scoreboard.
Narrabri piled on a swathe of tries in the second half, however, it wasn’t enough to topple Gunnedah.
The Red Devils ended the season finale with a 36-29 victory over its visitors.
Hamish Hocking and Epeli Vulaserau led the try-scoring efforts, both bagging two.
Jono Madden and Jarod Adams scored a try each.
Adams featured prominently on the day, also scoring three conversions.
In other second grade games, Barraba defeated Moree 16-12 and Tamworth proved too strong for Walcha in a 43-10 drubbing.
Narrabri and Barraba will battle it out in this Saturday’s first semi-final with the hope of keeping their finals hopes alive.
Tamworth and Moree will contest the following weekend’s major semi-final to earn a place in the grand final.
