As a life member of the show society and current president of the show ladies’ auxiliary, I wish to fully endorse the remarks of both Richard White and George Avard.

The showground is a wonderful asset to the Gunnedah community as it hosts many events that showcase our lovely town.

Imagine the angst felt by our auxiliary members when we are charged to use our own kitchen, a kitchen built by our auxiliary members through fundraising and voluntary work.

It is now called the community kitchen, something I will never accept.

Organisations using this kitchen should pay their hiring fees to our auxiliary not Gunnedah Shire Council.

At the recent charity Christmas fair held at Giffith Hall, we were charged $80 to use our own kitchen.

If we wanted a bin that would have cost us an extra $20. In fact, every structure at the showground now has a hiring fee, a far cry from yesteryear.

Anyway residents, come election time you know what to do.

Think of our showground and vote accordingly.
