Forty per cent of women in the Hunter New England overdue for breast screening

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, women aged 50-74 from Hunter New England Local Health District are being urged to book in a free mammogram, with almost than 40 (39.7) per cent of women in the region, which includes Gunnedah, overdue for their two-yearly breast cancer screen. Man airlifted from Tambar Springs crash

A man has been airlifted from a crash near Tambar Springs overnight. About 9.40pm on Thursday, October 3, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to a crash near Tambar Springs. A rescue helicopter spokesperson said a man aged in his 20s was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and the helicopter’s critical care medical team for multiple injuries before being transported to Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital. No further details were available.

Mercy Day was celebrated in St Joseph’s Parish last Tuesday, honouring the enormous contribution of the Sisters of Mercy to the community over the past 145 years.
