Pre-heat the oven, grab the flour and eggs, it is time to prepare for one Gunnedah’s Australia Day Cake-Off.
Arguably one of the competitive indoor activities in Gunnedah on Australia Day, the baking competition is bracing for oven loads of entries in 2024.
Last year’s grand champion, Ann Luke, has flagged she is preparing to serve up another round of sweet treats for judges tomorrow.
Entry categories for all ages and across the culinary baking range – from biscuits to buttercakes – will again be fielded for the Australia Day competition.
Each entry is required to bake the set number in that category but people are invited to enter as many categories as they wish.
All entries should feature an Australiana theme.
Held at the Gunnedah Country Women’s Association (CWA) rooms on Barber Street, participants should deliver their entry between 8.30-10am tomorrow. Judging will be held from about 10am with entries to be collect by exhibitors by 11am.
