Members of the Hughes family gathered at the old family farm known as Kingston Park on Saturday, August 17, to commemorate the family and celebrate the wonderful long life of Milton Hughes, the ninth of 11 children, who died on May 8, just five weeks short of his 100th birthday. Milton was born at West Wyalong on June 14, 1924, and was just 11 months old when he came to the Gunnedah district with his family. Helen returns as VIEW club’s guest speaker in Gunnedah

Gunnedah Day VIEW Club members welcomed ‘one of their own’ when Helen Scott returned to her old hometown to launch her coffee table book, Helen’s Harvest Handcrafts. Helen was guest speaker at her old club where she was a member for a brief time before moving to Esperance in Western Australia 30 years ago. Helen’s parents Bob and Joyce Bridges, of Highland Plains, Kelvin, had also moved across Australia to the rich farming area. Bob died in 2012 and Joyce in 2018. Grandparents day at Joey’s Playgroup

There was a lot of excitement at the Boggabri Joey’s Playgroup this week, and it was not only the little participants who were excited. It was grandparents’ day and the children proudly showed their skills at painting, cooking in the cubby house, climbing on the outdoor equipment to their adoring grandparents. Each grandparent proudly took home a hand painted tea towel to remember their special day with the children.
