Gunnedah Rugby Club’s Saturday game day showcased the strength and diversity of our community.
The Red Devils stood in arms with team-mate Jack Inder, in a minute’s silence to remember his late partner Brittany Abraham who passed away in a car accident earlier this year. The games were dedicated to her memory, with players wearing black armbands in her honour.
In the fiercely contested first grade game, despite a valiant effort, the Red Devils fell short in their comeback against the Scone Brumbies, losing 33-28. Tries were scored by Patrick Grant, John McKay, Matthew Hannay, and Will Burke.
In reserve grade, the Red Devils looked like they were within reach of a victory. Both teams scored three tries each, however, the Brumbies took the win with three conversions and two penalty conversions.
The Red Devil tries were scored
by Sam Osborne, Hamish Hockings and Josh Leys.
The women’s game ended in a thrilling 27-all draw, with both teams scoring five tries with one conversion each. Notable tries came from Daniela Swain, Dima Ranamalo, Lupe Mikaele, and two from Stephie Lennon.
With only two home games left for the season, be sure to head to Gunnedah Rugby Park on August 3 and 10. Come out and show your support for the Red Devils as they finish off the year.
