The Gunnedah Water Tower Museum will open its doors to school staff and the general community tomorrow as part of Education Week 2024.

An invitation has been made to teaching staff from all schools in Gunnedah to attend on Friday afternoon, August 9, to see what the museum can offer as a venue for a school excursion. Volunteers will be on hand to provide information.

Members of the public are also welcome to attend at this time and to also take the opportunity see the recently constructed mini-amphitheatre in the poetry precinct alongside the water tower museum and Dorothea Mackellar Centre.

Gunnedah District Historical Society proudly acknowledges different aspects of the local community through its displays at the museum, which is in fitting with the theme for Education Week 2024: Proud to Belong.

A dedicated band of volunteers works hard to maintain and improve the items that are housed in the museum. Praise from out-of-town visitors about the quality of displays is gratifying and the society is keen to encourage more locals to visit and to take pride in their community.

A coffee van will also be in attendance outside the museum, adjacent to the plaques and allowing a close-up view of the renowned murals.
