Spotlight: Online Libraries

If you’re like me and can’t get enough of reading, make sure you’re utilising our online borrowing platforms when the brick-and-mortar library is closed.

Hoopla is a personal favourite of mine. I have audiobooks running when I’m doing stuff around the house or wandering around the supermarket. Library users have access to uLibrary, indyreads, LOTE4kids, EraBooks, plus many, many more.

Fresh to our fantasy shelves is Five Broken Blades (FSF COR) by Mai Corland.

The five most dangerous liars in the land have been mysteriously summoned to work together for a single objective: to kill the God King Joon.

They can agree on murder. They can agree on treachery. But for these five killers – each versed in deception, lies, and betrayal – it’s not enough to forge an alliance. To survive, they’ll have to find a way to trust each other . . . but only one can take the crown.

Let the best liar win.

Edible Houseplants (582 MAR) is new to the gardening section.

Their colourful guide features photos and complete care guidelines for 46 food-bearing plants, includes lemons, limes, grapefruit, cherries, olives, passion fruit, papaya, and much more.

Fans of Australian fiction will love The Lyrebird Lake Ladies Choir (AFA DOC).

Sisters Eleanor and Maggie have been running the Lyrebird Lake Ladies Choir for fifteen years. It has become a haven for the lost and lonely women who have found their home in the stately federation house by the lake. When Eleanor enters the choir into the All Voices Championship, it offers them all a chance to make up for lost dreams.

Single mum Hannah arrives in Lyrebird Lake, homeless after being widowed and hoping for a new start with her son. With her angelic voice, Hannah could give the choir a winning edge. But when Eleanor hears her singing a long-forgotten lullaby, she is transported to her past, a traumatic time when two teenage girls were banished from their Irish homeland to a faraway country.

Will Hannah’s arrival mend old wounds, or will the secret she unknowingly carries tear the sisters apart? See you soon at the library!
