The Gunnedah Garden Club had an enjoyable day at the Railway Hotel last month.
After the business of the meeting, Robyn Clydsdale delivered a power point presentation on floral art, with Julia Withers providing tips on how she designs and makes her award-winning artwork.
Julia has won numerous prizes for her work over the years.
Robyn showed the garden club some great examples of Julia’s past floral arrangements and members were all eager to give it a go. The garden club said “a lot more” more entries could feature at the next Gunnedah Show using the new skills acquired.
Earlier this month, a group of 12 members attended the Dungowan Garden Club’s birthday lunch and had a great day of friendship.
It was a bridal theme this year, with the stage decorated with bridal gowns. Good speaker, a delicious lunch and great shopping in the hall.
New faces were at the June meeting included Marg Kersley and Meryl Hennessy.
Results of the flower competition were Helen Murrell’s gerbera in first place, second was Robyn Clydsdale’s poinsettia and third were Julia Withers and Ann Penrose tied with their roses.
Results of the vegetable competition were Fay Byrne’s shallots in first place, second was Ann Penrose’s spinach and third was Julia Withers’ lemons.
Next will be the club’s Soup and Damper Day and the guest speaker will be Aleena Greenway, a local horticulturalist.
Carol Smith will bring the Raffle and the Hostess will be Gwen Donaldson.
