New champions will enjoy the grand final experience of a lifetime after winning the Gunnedah Times’ NRL tipping competitions.
Davidson Cameron & Co claimed top honours in the Business House Challenge while Chris Mallon was the winner of the Readers’ Tipping
Competition.
Davidson Cameron & Co was locked in a four-way fight to the finish alongside A.C Whalan, Carter’s Pharmacy and Carwash 2380 but just did enough to win in the final round.
Jenny Randall, this year’s tipster for Davidson Cameron & Co, will attend the grand final with husband, Barry.
It will be Jenny’s first NRL grand final experience where she is hoping her beloved Cronulla Sharks will
continue their quest for the club’s second ever premiership and its first since 2016.
Davidson Cameron & Co operations manager and rural property sales agent Sam Leys said despite being the face of this company’s footy tipping, it was administrative staff member Jenny who was the secret behind the success.
The Gunnedah Times Readers’ Tipping Competition also went down to the wire.
Chris finished the regular season on 259 points, just ahead of Ray McCoy in second on 257 points and Ian
Jordan and Andrew Riordan, equal third on 251 points.
Ray McCoy was gracious in defeat saying thank you to the Gunnedah Times for the opportunity to participate in the NRL Footy Tipping Competition this year.
“It’s been a tonne of fun, and with a two-point lead going into the last round, it was always going to be close. Congratulations to Paddy Mallon on his win, but rest assured, I will never back the Manly Sea Eagles again,” he added.
“It’s the first thing I’ve won in my life,” Chris quipped. Chris’s wife Jann will be joining him on the grand final venture.
A big Roosters supporter, Chris is hoping the club can rekindle the form of its 2018 and 2019 premiership wins.
The Gunnedah Times has purchased the prizes of return airfares and grand final tickets.
Sponsor Radisson Blu has provided the accommodation at its five star luxury Sydney Plaza hotel in the city’s centre.
The Gunnedah Times has again expressed its thanks to Radisson Blu for its ongoing support of the tipping competition.
“A stay at the luxury hotel in the Sydney CBD complements our NRL grand final experience,” The Gunnedah Times’ managing director Wanda Dunnet OAM said.
“Our thanks to the supporting businesses that make the competition possible.
“We encourage our Gunnedah Times readers to support these
wonderful businesses that support this annual promotion.”
The Business House Challenge continues throughout the finals, culminating in the grand final with the
format unchanged and including Beat the Biz. In the readers’ competition, the top eight will participate in the finals fever contest. See more details on pages 16-17.
