Christmas events planned for tomorrow have been postponed due to predicted weather.
The Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce announced on Tuesday the Gunnedah Christmas Festival has been postponed due to forecasted severe weather.
Gunnedah is expected to receive rain for most of today and Friday.
In a Facebook post announcing the postponement, the chamber wrote, “this decision was made with careful consideration and concern, as the priority is ensuring a safe and enjoyable event for everyone involved”.
“Unfortunately, this prediction of weather poses too much risk to the essence and safety of the event,” it stated.
The new date of the festival will be announced when the chamber’s executives make a decision.
The lighting of the town’s Christmas tree was meant to coincide with the fair, but it has also been postponed.
Council expects the event to be held next week, to be announced via its Facebook page.
