More than 80 people flocked to the bowling greens at Club Gunnedah last Saturday for the Club Gunnedah Fishing Club Bowls fun night.
Participants came from Club Gunnedah, the Gunnedah Services Bowling Club & Fishing Club, and Curlewis for games of triples.
There was a relaxed vibe on the greens as the games were social rather than competitive, before attendees stayed for a barbecue dinner while there were also cheque presentations, raffles and auctions.
The Gunnedah Services Bowling Club & Fishing Club donated $2000 to each of Gunnedah Can Assist, Gunnedah Hospital Auxiliary, the Gunnedah branch of Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), and a group of Gunnedah junior bowlers.
With the event usually held annually, the main purpose involved supporting Keepit Matthews Recreation Association Incorporated which pays a lease and public liability insurance for the Matthews Reserve camping area adjacent to Keepit Dam.
One of the event organisers, Mick Hull, said the Gunnedah Services Bowling Club & Fishing Club had provided support in the form of purchasing a mower, hosting bowls events, maintaining the lawn and setting up a shower block.
Mick said it was great to see a strong turnout for a good cause last Saturday.
