The Gunnedah Show Society announced that former president Rob Witts and current president Kath Wilkinson have been awarded life memberships in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the organisation.

The badges were presented at the show society’s Christmas party by vice president Caroline Mitchell.

Caroline Mitchell celebrated the achievements of both recipients.

“The Gunnedah Show Society is a volunteer organisation that has been around since 1888, made up entirely of volunteers, it is fabulous to see Rob and Kath’s hard work and commitment recognised,” Caroline said.

“They have been part of our organisation for many years, all while working or running their own farms. Kath is also our first female President, and we are very proud of her.”

Rob Witts, who served as show president for four years, reflected on the organisation’s legacy: “The show society has been around for 136 years, and I hope it will continue to be here for another 136 years.”

The badges were awarded at the show society Christmas party at the showgrounds which was well attended.

The show society is grateful for the support it continues to receive from the local community, president Kath Wilkinson said, “The show is for everyone in the community; whether you’re a photographer, involved in education, agriculture, children’s art, horticulture, we hope to continue to make the show for all. Thank you for the support of the Gunnedah community including all our fabulous sponsors, volunteers, committee, competitors and attendees.”
