Gunnedah’s Community Carols by Candlelight have been hailed a great success.

Community members turned out in droves for Wolseley Park event last week.

Co-coordinator David Piper from the Gunnedah Anglican Church said estimating attendance is always difficult but thought between 1200 and 1500 people turned out for the carols last week.

He was particularly impressed by the “great mix” of individual, school-based and community performances on the night.

“See the number of groups with local people was a highlight,” he said.

The carols were also about sharing the special message of “giving than receiving” during Christmas.

Mr Piper thanked all involved for their efforts in hosting the community carols, from the performers to the attendees and event volunteers.
