Judith Law’s three decades of service to the Gunnedah branch of the Country Women’s Association has been recognised with the presentation of life membership.
Surrounded by friends and family, Mrs Law was awarded the honour during a surprise presentation by the branch last month.
“It is an honour to receive this award,” a shocked Mrs Law said.
“Thank you so much.”
Gunnedah CWA president Leonie Harley, who was also present for the presentation, said the long-time volunteer has delivered years of faithful service to the Gunnedah community.
“Judy has been a great worker at the branch for a long time, 32 years now,” Mrs Harley said.
“She is always there supporting us, making sandwiches, washing up … she likes to stay in the background but she is very much an over achiever.
“She has won some big art awards, a humanitarian award … for an under achiever, she really is an over achiever.”
Mrs Law’s life membership citation describes her invaluable contribution to the branch over the years.
“Any function we hold, Judith is there with her signature dish ‘Apple Slice’ or her delightful Devonshire scones – quietly working in the background preparing food or washing up,” the citation stated.
“Judith is Royalist who is passionate to preserve our flag and our monarchy and campaigns regularly on anti-daylight saving
“She is also a talented artist who has won the CWA State Art Prize on two occasions and the Sylvia Osbourne humanitarian award.
“Judith has performed at group cultural days as a member of the branch choir and other performances
“We feel that Judith has indeed qualified as a life member and I know she will be absolutely thrilled and humbled to receive this honour, so richly deserved.”
Judith is now one of several life CWA Gunnedah members including Leonie Harley, Elaine Archibald, Norma McDonald and Coralie Howe.
Mrs Law is presented with her life membership pin.
