Cool relief and steady rain brought a welcome change to Gunnedah’s weather this week.
Gunnedah recorded 14.6mm of rain in 24 hours to 9am Wednesday.
Official figures at the Bureau of Meteorology’s Gunnedah Airport recording station show 5mm of rain fell in just one 30-minute period about 12.30pm on Tuesday. Rainfall continued late into the evening at Gunnedah.
Gunnedah Resource Centre station recorded 12.2mm of rain was recorded in 24 hours to 9am Wednesday.
Meanwhile it was a mixed bag for neighbouring communities across the North West region with just 8.6mm recorded at Narrabri but 19mm at Quirindi.
Almost 20mm fell at Tamworth Airport but just 3.6mm at Moree.
Coonabarabran was among the highest achievers for the week, recording 24mm in just 24 hours.
Another trough is forecast to develop over the state’s far west and deepen later in the week through the weekend, while a ridge extends across the east, bringing heat and moisture across the inland.
Relatively average summer temperatures will continue for the remainder of the week in Gunnedah, with top temperatures about 32 degrees before the heat returns to the high-30s by next Tuesday.
