Returned serviceman Anthony Adams has donated his military uniform from his deployment to Afghanistan during Operation Slipper MTF-1 in 2010 to the Gunnedah RSL Sub-Branch.

The army veteran from Gunnedah said although it was difficult to part ways with the item, he hoped the donation would hold greater value on display for the wider community.

“[The uniform] holds a lot of sentimental value,” Mr Adams said.

“I’ve thought about donating my items over the years to other sub-branches but never been able to let them go.

“I think it’s important to keep history alive and show the next generation items that have been worn in conflicts – it’s a good talking point, it generates conversation.”

Mr Adams, who is a member of the Gunnedah RSL Sub-Branch, was recently elected as an alternate delegate for North West District Council to attend the 2025 RSL NSW Annual State Congress. The congress is held at different venues around the state and this year is held at Tamworth.
