Gunnedah Salvation Army leaders Peter and Sally Anne Hall were overjoyed to meet the students at Gunnedah Public school who all sported brand new green school hats last week.
“We wanted to use some of our locally raised funds from The Red Shield Appeal to help ease some of the pressure of back-to-school expenses for families,” Sally Anne said.
In collaboration with staff at Gunnedah Public School, it was decided that school hats would be the most suitable way to implement this back-to-school initiative.
Gunnedah Public school encourages sun safety with the rule; ‘no hat, no play’, requiring students to wear a hat to play out in the playground.
This year all the students at Gunnedah Public School received a free school hat, giving everyone the opportunity to play outside together.
Peter and Sally Anne would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Red Shield Appeal last year, making this back-to-school initiative possible.
