If your child needs reading practice, consider bringing them to Bookends Literary Assist.

After selecting some books from the shelves, participants join adults for one-on-one reading sessions in 20-minute blocks. As part of the programme, children are also automatically joined to the 1000 Books After School Challenge. These sessions take place between 3-5pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus 3-4pm on Fridays. Spotlight: New books

The Seachangers (AFA APP) from author Meredith Appleyard is ready to be borrowed.

Five years after opening Rosie’s Cafe in the seaside town of Cutlers Bay, the shine has worn off for 62-year-old Ruth. She needs another change, but what could it possibly be? Hamish comes to Cutlers Bay to settle his affairs after his father’s death. Renovations and active labour make him question his retirement decision, but a certain café owner is making the place feel like a home…

For young artists, Dear Vincent (EASY B) is new to our picture book section.

A heart-warming snapshot of a happy and creative period in Van Gogh’s life, this story focuses on family bonds and how his brother’s support and encouragement helped Vincent to reach his full artistic potential.

From author Rose Carlyle comes No One Will Know (AFA CAR).

When a young, broke, and pregnant Eve Sylvester meets charismatic and couple, Julia and Christopher Hygate, she thinks her woes are over, but after taking a job at their empty summerhouse in Paradise Bay, many questions are raised: Why must Eve stay out of sight? Why have the Hygates employed an ex-con to run their yacht-charter business? And what about the mysterious boats sailing in and out of the Hygates’ private marina? Has Eve made a deal with the devil? It’s too late to ask questions. Eve is already in far too deep.
