Gunnedah swimmers turned on some fast and furious action in the pool at the Speedo Sprint finals in Sydney last weekend.
Fourteen local athletes helped make up the New England and North West team which competed against other regions from across the state.
The competition is an exciting sprinting event each year, with swimmers aged between eight and 13 competing in 50m freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
The regional heats were held in Armidale last month when the top four boys and girls in each stroke and age group go through to compete in the finals at the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.
Gunnedah swimmers who competed included Darci and Macey Dalessandro; Tayla, Ayden and Nayte Thompson; Jimmy Fitzgerald; Cameron and Aiden Sills; Jorja and Lukas Burden; Pippa Wark; Marsel Tikhonskiy; Jake Hausfeld.
The Gunnedah group posted 32 personal best times from its heats, with eight-year-old Jimmy placing in the top 10 in all four 50m final events.
The squad also put in a solid team effort in its regional relays.
