Gunnedah had three winners and four runners-up in round two of the North West Regional Matchplay Series (RMS), staged at the new courts at Easts in Tamworth on February 23.

Lachlan Finnerty won the 12 and under boys division as he stepped up a year, and Millie Lyle won the 10&U girls division while Sophie Neilsen was the 16&U girls winner.

The decider in the 10&U girls division was a case of mate against mate as Millie defeated another Gunnedah player, Belle Nichols.

Gunnedah’s other second placegetters were Jonty Nichols (8&U boys), Allie Neilsen (14&U girls) and Matt Rouse (open men’s).

Other Gunnedah competitors on the day were Daisy Baker, Chelsea Budden, Archer Cannon, Cooper Cannon, Maggie Gardner, Arjun Jayaraman, Adalie Muddle, Balin Muddle, Molly Murphy, Edith Rouse, Louis Rouse, Charli Scott and Harry Tudgey.

Gunnedah’s competitors displayed skill, determination and great sportsmanship amid the challenging heat.

Gunnedah will host the next round of the North West RMS this Sunday (March 9).
