Soon after it was announced there would be new electric vehicle charging locations in the Liverpool Plains, new installations have appeared in Gunnedah.
The new units on Chandos Street quietly popped up recently but with notices explaining the infrastructure would not be available for some time.
“Due to open July 1, 2025”, the poster reads.
It follows Liverpool Plains Shire Council’s installation of EV chargers at Quirindi, Willow Tree and Currabubula.
More than 3000 public EV charging units are reportedly installed across Australia.
According to the Australian government, the purchase price of EVs are expected to become more competitive as more models become available in Australia.
Many EV models sold in Australia can travel more than 400km before they need to be recharged.
Although EVs do not produce any tailpipe emissions, emissions may be produced to generate the electricity for an EV, to manufacture a vehicle and its battery as well as from tyre, brake and road wear (as is the case for all vehicles).
