Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club members and friends enjoyed a day trip to the Reg Lindsay Memory Barn last Friday with owner Ros Lindsay welcoming her visitors for morning tea.
Officially opened by Member for New England Barnaby Joyce in January 2021, the memory barn has an amazing display of memorabilia, from Reg’s first Australian LP record to one of his handcrafted saddles, photos, awards, boots and outfits – there is even a corner dedicated to Ros Lindsay’s outstanding career as a jockey and rodeo rider.
Reg and his wife Ros had always planned to retire to their country ranch Barlyn but Reg’s debilitating ill health after a cerebral haemorrhage in 1995 changed the course of their lives.
Reg died in 2008 and in 2015, Ros decided to make the move and fulfil her husband’s dream – and now his legacy lives on in the Reg Lindsay Memory Barn.
After perusing every corner of the barn and enjoying the magnificent views across paddocks to the mountains, the group headed for the Royal Hotel at Spring Ridge for a country style meal before heading home via Caroona and The Mystery Road.
