Year 10 Food Technology students at Carinya Christian School Gunnedah have teamed up with local Angus breeders Kate and Lachlan James to create a barbecue concept focused on premium Angus beef and a bold splash of flavours.
The Angus AgQuip Barbecue collaboration combines real world food business enterprise skills with hands-on culinary creativity. Students have worked alongside Mrs James and Mrs Harwood to develop a special Angus deluxe burger, along with marketing strategies to bring their product to life.
“It’s not just about cooking, it’s about building confidence, learning teamwork, and giving us students a taste of the food business in action,” Year 10 food technology student Adele Ruhmann said.
Fellow student Joshua Chatikobo said the project was more than just food.
“It’s about learning teamwork, gaining confidence, and getting real-world experience in the food industry,” he said.
Maddie Jordan said their goal was to produce the best steak burger on ground.
A special practice was held this week at Carinya Christian School Gunnedah where the students served up their creations to staff, so they could fine-tune them before AgQuip.
