Gunnedah Day VIEW Club members recently celebrated 52 years of friendship and caring for disadvantaged students through The Smith Family children’s charity.

A gathering of 55 VIEW Club members for lunch at Gunnedah Rugby Club was a happy occasion, with guests welcomed from Tamworth Day VIEW Club, Tamworth Evening and Peel Evening clubs, along with members from Manilla VIEW Club and Gunnedah Evening VIEW Club.

Founded by The Smith Family in 1960, VIEW is this year celebrating its 65th birthday nationally so it was a double celebration.

Included in the special guests was former Manilla VIEW Club member Coleen Neboraczek who is now a member of the Bundaberg VIEW Club, after moving to Tanglewood in Queensland. Discovering that there was no club in Bundaberg, she contacted the national office and became a foundation member of her new club.

VIEW national councillor Aletia Norman presented a 40-year membership badge to Jean Smallpiece, who then cut the birthday cake beautifully decorated by Anne Finnegan.

Delsia Ward, Shail Mitchell and Joan Harwood also received their 20-year badges, with name badges presented to new members Margaret Stevens, Ann Brady and Pat Dunkley.

After a delicious lunch was served, Crystal Neal entertained with her beautiful singing voice and guitar.

Coleen Neboraczek and Joan Harwood attended the NKO1 Zone Gala Day, where VIEW national vice-president, Lorraine Thompson, was the inspirational guest speaker. Helped by The Smith Family as a disadvantaged child, Coleen was then guest speaker at Great Lakes Evening VIEW Club, talking about her own life journey and how it had been changed by the programs available.
