Gunnedah Family Support Multicultural Playgroup has thanked Rotary Club of Gunnedah West for its recent donation of children’s books.

Playgroup coordinator Lisa Warren said the books will be shared across its various GFS groups as valuable resources during multicultural story time.

Prue Kesby from Rotary West said the books were the third part of its support for GFS this year.

She said Rotary West was passionate about books for children aged 0-4 years, helping in many ways for children starting school.

“We have an ongoing project where club members collect books for this age group,” Ms Kesby said.

“We supply one box of books per term to Ooranga to give away at their outreach playgroups.

“We are hoping that as parents learn the joy of reading with their babies and toddlers, it will foster a love of books for these children and give them a great start at school.

“The books we supplied to GFS supported playgroups were carefully chosen for use with the Multicultural Playgroup and Indigenous Young Mums group.

“We purchased these good quality, second-hand books to fit with the themes of indigenous stories and authors and Australian animals.”
