Narrabri edged out Gunnedah by seven runs in last Sunday’s U11 representative cricket match on Narrabri soil.

The hosts tallied 145 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 30 overs, before the visitors finished on 7-138.

More than half of the runs for both teams came from sundries, although there was still some impressive batting and bowling.

Will Hayne was the standout batter for Narrabri with 30 retired, while none of his teammates made more than seven.

Bailey Irwin and Jack Wright claimed two wickets each for Gunnedah while Frank Plevey, Angus Snape, Ethan McDonald and Bastien Hallett took one each.

Rex Plevey and Bailey were joint top scorers in the run chase with 16 apiece, while Oscar De Groot made 15.

Will completed a superb all-round match with 3-18 from four overs.

Meanwhile the Gunnedah versus Narrabri U13 match did not proceed due to Narrabri having limited player numbers.

Both of Gunnedah’s teams will host Armidale on November 9.

Narrabri 8-145 (Will Hayne 30 retired; Bailey Irwin 2-12, Jack Wright 2-13) defeated Gunnedah 7-138 (Rex Plevey 16, Bailey Irwin 16; Will Hayne 3-18) by 7 runs.
