GunnRun Run Club has topped the fundraising leaderboard for run clubs in Australia in this year’s Nedd Brockmann Challenge, having raised $13,585 for the We are Mobilise charity which aims to reduce homelessness in Australia.
The amount raised also placed GunnRun Run Club 13th out of more than 300 teams in Australia, across all categories.
With everyone setting their own everyday challenge which would take them out of their comfort zone for the 10 days, the team ended up with 65 participants.
These participants tallied 2,175km of running, 300km of walking, 4,500 burpees and many wall balls, rowing kilometres, swimming kilometres, crunches, push-ups, sit-ups, cold showers and other challenges.
Six of the GunnRun Run Club members ran 100km each over the 10 days: Maryanne Perkins, Gabby O’Gorman, Zeb Dillon, Alasdair Hewitt, Sienna Edmunds and Georgie Edmunds.
The finales were held at Wolseley Park on Wednesday last week when everyone came together to finish together, with many of them very uncomfortable at having to run laps.
Maryanne, a coach from Gunnedah Health & Fitness Co, said, “We are so proud of the team and the way everyone worked together to help each other achieve their daily goals.”
Maryanne also encouraged everyone to be involved in next year’s challenge.
