Spotlight: LET IT SNOW!
When you think of Christmas in Australia, there isn’t usually a lot of snow. Fortunately, we have the solution. At Make It! on Wednesday 10 December we are making paper roll snowflakes. These beautiful creations will be just as unique as their real-life counterparts. The session starts at 3.30pm and costs $3. Come along and make new decorations to hang around the house.
The final day to borrow books before Christmas is Thursday 18 December, when library will close at 5.30pm. The library will re-open for the new year on 5 January 2026 at 9.30am.
Spotlight: LARGE PRINT BOOKS
If you are finding it difficult to read the smaller print in books, then there is collection for you. Our large print books are exactly that – books with larger printing, and often darker. Many of them are smaller and lighter, so easier to hold with limited strength or painful hands, but still quality stories by top authors. Whether you are interested in mysteries, romance or fiction, you will find something to your taste.
Spotlight: NEW BOOKS
Gregory Maguire’s Wicked (FSF MAG) is available to borrow. Whether you are a fan of the stage show, films, or read the book back when it was first published; it is still a force of nature that challenges the good vs. evil assumptions. Elphaba is growing up in mean and poor Oz. Natural disasters loom and Animals (with voices, souls, and minds) are being exiled. When she stands up to protect the Animals, she will pit herself again the Wizard himself.
Isn’t it Nice We Both Hate the Same Things (AFA SEA) is the second novel by Jessica Seaborn. Charlie has always had a big group of friends – until she left her husband and they all sided with him. Now she finds herself floundering in a sea of awkward run-ins and silent group chats. When even her best friend moves on, she realises how few significant people she has around her. As she seeks new friendships in a range of places, she must decide what kind of life she wants, and who does she really want to spend it with?
History buffs will be keen to read Sister Bullwinkel: the untold, uncensored story (994 SIL) by Lynette Ramsay Silver. We know the story of the 1942 Bangka Island massacre. Or do we? 21 nurses murdered. But what was left out of the
official accounts? Finally, Vivian Bullwinkel’s full story can be told.
